Pink and Nicole Kidman have each donated $500,000 to Australia's firefighting services
Australian actor Nicole Kidman and US singer Pink have made large donations to Australian fire services as a local comedian's fundraiser surpassed $22 million after just two days."Our family's support, thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by the fires all over Australia."
Pink earlier tweeted to her 32 million followers that she was"totally devastated watching what is happening in Australia right now with the horrific bushfires" before pledging a donation of $500,000. Australian comedian Celeste Barber set up a fundraiser for the NSW Rural Fire Service on Facebook on Friday and by Sunday more than 500,000 people had chipped in.
Barber, known for her parodies of US celebrities on social media, started the fundraiser after her family was hit by fire in Eden on the NSW South Coast.The fundraiser has been shared by a number of celebrities.star Jonathan Van Ness wrote that his"heart has been broken these last days watching the situation deteriorate there" and encouraged his followers to donate to Barber's fundraiser.
The link to the fundraiser was also shared by singer Lizzo, who was headlining FOMO festival in Brisbane, and actors Natalie Portman and Selma Blair.And Nick Kroll teamed with Australian actor and filmmaker Joel Edgerton to raise money for the NSW RFS to"combat the terrible fires ravaging Australia".
