It will move through the Sunshine State today and then into Georgia while continuing to weaken.Nicole made landfall as a Category 1 hurricane with 75 mph winds in southeastern Florida early Thursday morning and continued to spread wind and rain through Florida and parts of the Southeast.
The hurricane center said strong winds, dangerous storm surge and heavy rain will continue to affect a large area as the sprawling storm moves northward. However, Nicole was still a big storm. Forecasters said tropical storm winds extend outward up to 450 miles from the center, particularly on the north side.
