Five adults and four children have been rescued from waters near Fair Head by the RNLI, after the boat they were on started taking on water.A lifeboat crew from Cushendall was able to reach the stranded group at around 12.50pm, taking all nine to safety.They were transported to Ballycastle Harbour, where local Coastguards were able to take care of them.
Lifeboat crews were then able to return to the stranded vessel and use a pump to get rid of the water it had taken onboard.Paddy McLaughlin, Red Bay RNLI Coxswain said: ‘"It was a very serious situation for the group, which included a number of children."With the good weather set to continue, we would advise everyone who is planning a trip on the water to take a means of communication should they need to raise the alarm and to wear a personal flotation device.
