Parents Ray and Jacqui first noticed something was amiss in mid-2020 when Daniel started to lose weight and was frequently vomiting at school. “He got diagnosed with a stomach bug,” Ray told 7NEWS.com.au.
Months went by and Daniel was still vomiting — then the seizures began. Concerned, his dad used his smartwatch to track Daniel’s stress levels overnight, and the data shocked him. “The next day it (data) said he was stressed the whole night while he was asleep, and I was like, ‘This is not normal’,” Ray said. Unconvinced by doctors who believed it was still a stomach issue, Ray pushed for his son to get an MRI. “We went to get the scan and halfway through, the guy (doing the MRI) called the ambulance and said, ‘You need to go straight to the hospital.
