The woman found dead at a Brisbane bayside home had facial injuries, but an autopsy was unable to confirm a definitive cause of death.

The autopsy of a woman found dead at a Brisbane bayside home that had a “large amount of blood” at the scene has not returned a definitive cause of death.

Emergency services were called to a Vanessa Place home in Victoria Point about 2am on Wednesday, where they found the 56-year-old’s body on a bed.She had facial injuries, but police earlier in the week were unable to confirm if her death was suspicious. Detectives were questioning her “quite traumatised” partner, who was “emotional and upset” as he let paramedics into the home.

On Thursday evening, police said the autopsy had been unable to determine a definitive cause of death.Police did not find any weapons at the home, but said there was a “large amount of blood” in the home. Detective Superintendent Andrew Massingham on Wednesday said police were probing the couple’s relationship, but there were no current domestic violence orders involving the pair. There were also investigations into whether the woman had an illness in the lead-up to her death.
