The Labor leader says the late senator Kimberley Kitching never raised concerns about her treatment with him.
Labor senator Kimberley Kitching died of a suspected heart attack earlier this month. She was 52.
Opposition leader Anthony Albanese is refusing to open a formal inquiry into bullying allegations by the late Kimberley Kitching.“There were no complaints put in in any formal sense at all about issues,” the Labor leader said on the Nine Network’s“The one issue that was raised was about Kimberley’s position on the tactics committee.
On the ABC, soon afterwards, he acknowledged Labor could “always do better” on the treatment of people within the party but argued again that the concern had been about the tactics committee not a formal complaint about bullying. Mr Albanese contrasted this with the investigations Prime Minister Scott Morrison had set up into questions about personal conduct or complaints being made, including those overseen by the secretary of the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, Phil Gaetjens, which were never released.
