A mentally ill man stabbed his wife to death at their Perth home because he was 'acutely psychotic' at the time and not because of his homosexual tendencies, a psychiatrist tells the WA Supreme Court.
There was no "good evidence" to support the theory that a mentally ill man killed his wife because of his homosexual tendencies and because he did not want to be with her, a WA murder trial has been told.
Forensic psychiatrist Adam Brett testified that it in his opinion, the accused was having a psychotic episode at the time he stabbed his wife.Dr Brett said although Mr Ihalahewa had bisexual needs, he still wanted to be in a relationship with his wife and have children, while also exploring his sexuality.
