A concerning video has emerged appearing to show a fisherman casually standing in the water at the edge of a crocodile-infested river in the Northern Territory, triggering outrage and alarm online.
Alarming footage has surfaced of a fisherman standing in a river swarming with enormous saltwater crocodiles in the Northern Territory , prompting fierce calls for visitors and locals alike to stay"crocwise".
It’s estimated the waterway is home to nearly 15 crocodiles per kilometre, more than double the regular amount. According to the NT’s government’s website, large numbers of the prehistoric reptiles congregate near Shady Camp. Mr Duffy said he had seen a large crocodile “launch after something” not 20 metres from the area just an hour before the video was filmed.
“They’re everywhere here. I literally watched a large Saltie launch after something not 20m from here about an hour beforehand. The video, posted to Mr Duffy’s Instagram account which boats a 228,000 following, attracted a slew of concerned comments.“40 years ago saw exactly the same thing at Shady Camp. Guy was in thigh-high water casting into a bank-side runoff,” wrote another.
