Education Minister admits she 'really doesn't know' how many children will turn up for school
The WA Education Minister says she has no idea how many students will return to school in term two as parents mull whether to send their children back amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.The Education Minister says student numbers will become clear in week oneThe WA Government will open public schools for all children to attend and be taughtBut parents can choose to keep their children at home, leaving the question of just how many students will return in just over a week.
The WA Government is touting its term two plan as a cautious, careful and considered approach to protect teachers, parents and children. Ms Ellery said she had spoken to a lot of parents who believed the best place for their children was back at school. She acknowledged the uncertainty facing school staff, moving to reassure teachers there would be increased support to deliver the term two model.
