Investigation into Oak Forest fire on Lavergne Avenue expected to be completed Wednesday; no injuries reported in blaze that started outside.
Oak Forest fire officials were investigating the cause of a Sunday afternoon fire in the 151st block of Lavergne Avenue that displaced a resident but did not result in any injuries, according to fire Chief Gary Kasper.
Kasper said Tuesday the fire appeared to have started in the area of a grill outside the home, and firefighters were called out shortly after 3 p.m. to a report of a house fire.Firefighters encountered “heavy smoke and fire toward the rear of the house,” and cleared the scene shortly after 5 p.m. A preliminary investigation into the fire’s cause was expected to be wrapped up either later Tuesday or by sometime Wednesday, the chief said.
