San Antonio Spurs hit New Orleans with plenty of motivation

NEW ORLEANS — As one of the most playoff-tested members on the Spurs’ roster, Zach Collins has become a sage among his greener teammates on the pressures of a stretch run.
With a victory Saturday at the Smoothie King Center, the Spurs not only would gain a game on New Orleans, they’d clinch the head-to-head tiebreaker.If the Spurs’ situation feels familiar, that’s because it is. The Spurs have not lost since then, winning at Golden State and Portland by a combined 39 points. In fairness, all but two points of that margin came in the Spurs’ 133-96 beatdown of the Trail Blazers on Wednesday at the Moda Center.
That trade simultaneously demonstrated the Pelicans’ intention to go all-out in pursuit of a playoff berth.“It’s a meaningful game, and we want to approach it as such,” Green said. “Both teams are fighting to have a chance to get in the playoffs. It’s one of 82, but it also has a lot of meaning.”
