Baseball is Cuba's favourite sport — but it is losing its players at an unprecedented rate.
Seven-year-old Leoni is first baseman for a central Havana junior league baseball team, and Kevin, 8, is a hot-handed shortstop.
Plagued by the pandemic and further throttled by the Cold War-era embargo imposed by the US, long lines for food, medicine and fuel are the norm. "Players once waited a long time to emigrate, to prove themselves. Now they leave at 16 or 17 years of age," he says.
