'No other way': Climate activist Greta Thunberg's strike call to Australian students | p_hannam
Students have no choice but to close their books and walk out on their classes to make their demands for serious climate action heard, says Greta Thunberg, the Swedish student who has started a global movement.
Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, 16, has started a global campaign for student action that will culminate in an international day of strike action by students on March 15.ahead of this week's event, Ms Thunberg said she would be staging her now customary Friday strike, bringing the number of days she has boycotted classes to 42 since she began last year.
"But my grades are still good and I have not missed out on what I need to achieve in school," Ms Thunberg said. "My teachers and principal have been very, very supportive." Ms Thunberg said it was not enough for governments to talk about taking action to avoid dangerous climate change."Pledging to spend money and debating the issue is all very fine," she said. "But unless we start treating the crisis like a crisis we don’t stand a chance. We need a whole new way of thinking."
