There will be no AI winter

The skeptics have seen the field’s boom-and-bust periods before, and some feel sure it’s going to happen again. They can point to the seemingly timeless observation of the late UC Berkeley professor. “The field of artificial intelligence exhibits a recurrent pattern,” he wrote. “Early, dramatic success followed by sudden, unexpected difficulties.”
