Ms Credlin said the latest results showing Australia's global education standing is plummeting "are a scarifying reflection" on national outcomes and a "more worrying reflection on our national process".

"You won't be surprised to learn that China and Singapore come first and second on every measure. "In these countries teachers are respected, education is valued, and academic rigour is fundamental. "And, beyond the test results, neither of these countries have the 'every child deserves a prize' claptrap that's poisoning our own system.
