Around 25,000 fans braved torrential downpours as the former Oasis man returned to his home town
Noel Gallagher took to the stage in front of 25,000 fans tonight at a huge home-coming gig at Wythenshawe Park tonight. It was Noel's first first show in Manchester since a gig at Heaton Park in 2019 - and the closest he's played to his childhood home of Burnage since the Oasis mega gigs at Maine Road at the height of their fame.
Support came from Primal Scream, Future Islands, Billy Nomates and Picture Parlour. But the day didn't get off to the best of starts. Future Islands were forced to halt their set as torrential downpours swept across south Manchester. The gig comes as Noel discussed the prospect of an Oasis reunion now that he and the group members are at 'a certain age'. Noel and brother Liam have been embroiled in a feud ever since the band split in 2009.
In an interview with The Sun, Noel joked that before reforming they would have to see 'what everyone’s hair was looking like'', adding the reunion would involve him, Liam “and a load of fit f****** birds.”"We’d have to see what everyone’s hair was looking like."
