A Norfolk Southern train derailed in Alabama hours before a hearing scheduled for the train company's executives to testify before a Congress about a similar derailment in Ohio. The Alabama train was not carrying hazardous material.
The train, consisting of about 30 cars, derailed just before 8 a.m. EST on Thursday, just two hours before Norfolk Southern leaders appeared before the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee to testify on the train derailment that occurred in East Palestine, Ohio.
There is no danger to the public and no injuries have been reported, according to the Quad Cities Fire Department and Calhoun County Emergency Management Agency via ABC 33/40 News.
