— but “Motivation” is her first offering without a collaboration, and she admitted she’s learned a lot in the process of releasing it.
“There are new things that I am figuring out now. Even aside from getting up on stage and performing, singing, and dancing,” Normani said. “Even creatively, behind the scenes. [I’m] editing videos and being a video director. There are so many different hats that I did not know I was capable of wearing that I’m like, ‘OK, I’m doing this and I do it well.’ It’s been really, really fun and freeing.

Speaking to Zach, Normani revealed she’s hoping to put out a 14-track project sometime in 2020, which is currently “a little more than halfway” done, with “Motivation” being just the tip of the iceberg. “[‘Motivation’] is one layer. I want to make sure this album is very dynamic,” the singer teased. “There are so many dimensions to me, not only as an artist but as a person — there are things that I want to talk about and emotions that I want to convey. [‘Motivation’ is] one portion of it for sure but there’s a whole more to be able to discover.”
Well, we still have at least a few months to go until we get to see Normani’s many dimensions in album form — and we’ll happily wait until then — but the singer did tease she has “something special coming soon, soon.”
