Leaders at Gary and Mary West PACE in San Marcos say their organization is willing to guide San Diegans through renewal process

Thousands of Medi-Cal recipients in San Diego County may soon lose their benefits if they fail to return insurance renewal packets, but one local nonprofit wants to help.

Mary Jurgensen, West PACE community engagement director, said that for many recipients signed up for coverage during the pandemic across the state, this is the first time they need to recertify their eligibility. “If we can help someone and hold their hand and at least provide a little bit more of a bridge, we’d love to do that, she said.

While the renewal packets can be cumbersome to fill out or information may be missing, West PACE reimbursement supervisor Daniel Sullivan said it’s important to at least send back incomplete forms by the end of the month.
