Cllr Lawal said his comments on pride were an 'expression' of his 'Christian faith'
A Conservative councillor who was suspended under investigation about tweets made that homosexuality is a "sin" was reinstated and appeared at a full council meeting last night.
It read: "Whatever God calls 'sin' is nothing to be proud of". He also wrote alongside the image, asking when pride became "a thing to celebrate" and suggested that "those who have Pride should Repent of their sins". Cllr Jason Smithers, leader of NNC, invited Cllr Lawal to address the meeting, stating that conservative members of the council "treat all members of the community equally and without bias" and that the complaints process was complete.
Labour councillors, who stood while he addressed the chamber, were told to sit back down by monitoring officer Adele Wylie, as their behaviour was "intimidating".
