A Townsville resident describes the 'hairy' situation facing North Queensland as floodwaters inundate homes and residents brace for more rain.

Sky News Australia spoke to Townsville resident Josh Solomon, an ex-combat veteran, who described the situation as 'pretty hairy' in certain areas. While Mr. Solomon's home remains safe, he has been actively assisting those in lower-lying areas where floodwaters have inundated homes. Mr.
Solomon highlighted the strong sense of community that has emerged in the face of adversity, with many residents banding together to sandbag properties and assist with evacuations. However, he stressed the urgent need for medical supplies, food, and water, particularly for the elderly and vulnerable populations. He expressed concern about the town's limited access to medical care due to road closures, stating, 'One of the big things we're going to need soon is medical supplies ... food and water. As our roads north and south are cut. Therefore, we can't transfer anyone to any hospital or medical care.'The situation in North Queensland remains dire, with the continued threat of heavy rainfall and flooding posing significant challenges to emergency response efforts and the well-being of local communities.
