A majority of Republicans in both the House and Senate joined almost all Democrats in voting for the measure to keep the government open. "There are folks who want to get things done here and we also have some folks who just want to burn everything down," Rep. Allred said.In a statement, Sen. Cruz said: "No one wants a government shutdown...Democrats are opposed to spending cuts, or spending limits of any kind, even their own spending limit that they agreed to less than four months ago.

And in fact, nine Republicans from Texas voted yes to keep the government open, including Kay Granger, Michael Burgess, and Jake Ellzey from the North Texas congressional delegation.
