When the latest NSW emergency department wait times were released on Wednesday, there was a notable omission: Northern Beaches Hospital.
But in the BHI Quarterly where NBH’s ED performance data should be is a disclaimer: “BHI has not reported on the timeliness of care provided in the emergency department for [NBH] because of the challenges experienced in the implementation of a new information system in Northern Beaches emergency department”.
A NSW Health spokesperson said the ministry was "satisfied the clinical performance against these measures is sound".understands that NBH staff involved in the data collection have backed BHI’s conclusion that the data did not accurately reflect the realities of the ED.
