Michael O'Neill says 'all efforts' were made to keep the 17-year-old
The Irish FA has been forced to accept defeat in its bid to keep highly-rated Aston Villa teenager Omari Kellyman.
Northern Ireland boss Michael O'Neill says "all efforts" were made to retain Kellyman, and says the current FIFA rules around eligibility need revised. "With eligibility in international football you handle it the best way you can. You put your proposition to the player and where you see them going forward and why you want them as part of your squad and then it is down to them what decision they make.
Kellyman joined Villa from Derby County last year and has developed into a standout talent at Bodymoor Heath, having featured for the club's Under 18 and 23 sides.
