A Northern Territory judge has recommended doubling the monetary reward for any evidence leading to a conviction over the disappearance of Richard Roe, a former concreter who went missing in 2016. The reward has been increased to $500,000, following an eight-year police investigation and a coronial inquest which concluded that Mr Roe is likely dead and may have perished by dehydration.
A Northern Territory inquest has found that missing former concreter Richard Roe is likely dead, and may have perished by dehydration in remote bushland.Judge Stephen Geary has recommended the monetary reward for any evidence that leads to a conviction over Mr Roe's disappearance be substantially raised.A Northern Territory judge has recommended the reward for information relating to the disappearance of missing Darwin man Richard Roe be doubled to $500,000.
"Mr Roe has not been in contact with his loving family and he has not accessed any income or services," Judge Geary said. The former concreter was heavily involved in the drug trade, with a number of his former associates appearing at the inquest into his disappearance earlier this year. "His behaviour indicated paranoia and agitation and he was described as being forgetful, disorganised, and paranoid.
"It is possible that Mr Roe perished in bushland and that his remains and other items of evidentiary value could not be located due to the conditions, the terrain or due to Mr Roe walking into an area that was not part of an identified search area."Judge Geary wrote in his findings he was aware the lack of a firm cause of death would not provide the 40-year-old father's "long-suffering family with the answers that they seek".
