Norwegian authorities have put down a boat-climbing walrus after it drew large crowds of spectators in Oslo.
The 600-kilogram female walrus had become a popular attraction in Oslo Fsjord in recent weeks despite warnings from authorities to steer clear of the marine mammal.
"Through on-site observations the past week it was made clear that the public has disregarded the current recommendation to keep a clear distance to the walrus,'' it said. Officials had previously warned they were considering euthanising the animal and asked spectators to refrain from getting too close.
