One of the most senior Republicans in US congress has acknowledged AUKUS hasn't progressed as fast as congressional leaders would have liked.

'We're not satisfied': US foreign relations chief Senator Jim Risch criticises Biden admin for slow AUKUS progress as agreement passes three-year anniversary

Senator Jim Risch is the ranking Republican on the Foreign Relations Committee, and in line to take over as chair if Republicans take back power of the Senate after this election. Senator Risch said:"We get the same thing over here, if you're negative, you dredge up every make believe argument that you can. I don't buy that at all. Look, there are really mutual things for all three countries in the AUKUS agreement, particularly between the United States and Australia.”

“So we want to move it, we want to move it as fast as we can. We're not satisfied at the speed that its moving. That doesn't mean it's not working - it is working. We feel good about it. And we're going to continue to pursue it." Senator Risch spoke exclusively with Sky News Australia to mark the three-year anniversary of the AUKUS nuclear submarine deal between Australia, the US and the UK. Picture: Sky News Australia.
