Danny Boyle's survival drama 127 Hours gets rave reviews from an expert, praising the biographical movie's depiction of the harsh desert conditions.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Danny Boyle's 127 Hours gets outstanding praise from survival expert Les Stroud. Based on the true story of mountaineer Aron Ralston, the survival movie tells the harrowing true story of a man who endured extreme lengths when his arm got wedged between a boulder and the side of a canyon during a biking accident. 127 Hours stars James Franco, Kate Mara, and Amber Tamblyn.
Stroud then continued to praise 127 Hours’s portrayal of flash flooding, a desert phenomenon that Stroud warns “is not to be underestimated.” Check out the full quote from Stroud below: Flash flooding in the desert is not to be underestimated. It’s incredibly dangerous. It happens very quickly. You’re rarely prepared for it. And I have seen a canyon go from a trickle to 10 to 15 or even a wall of 20 feet of water in a very short period of time. And when I say short period of time, I don’t mean days. I mean hours or minutes. It’s scary, and it does happen all the time in the deserts.
I’d rate this scene 9 out of a 10. The depiction of the rapid flooding and his desperation in the beginning of that to just get a few little drops of water, I thought was spot on.”
