Latest Nottingham Forest news as Steve Cooper's Reds prepare for return to Premier League action
After the two-week international break, the Reds will be aiming to pick up from where they left off when they host Burnley on Monday night. Victory over Chelsea last time out made it six points from their first four league games and lifted them into the top half of the table.
Throughout the whole team, everyone knows there is at least one player breathing down their neck, fighting for the shirt. That can only help to lift and maintain performance levels. Q: Give them a month or so to gel together, and we'll start climbing up the table. I will be more than happy with finishing in 14th, possibly even higher.The owner, Evangelos Marinakis, left no doubt about how ambitious he is with the open letter which was published last week. Most of the new signings have age on their side, too. Some are with an eye on the future, like Murillo and Andrew Omobamidele. But pretty much all of them still have room for growth, so this group can get even better. Strength in depth is so important in the Premier League. Forest have that now. It would be great if he can get a few minutes against Burnley, even if it is just 10 minutes at the end. Whether that would mean he could start against Manchester City, though, I’m not quite sure. I suspect it might take a few games for him to get fully match sharp - particularly when you see how Moussa Niakhate has been eased back after his dislocated elbow.
