Nov. 2022 Election: Yes on San Diego Measure D — Repealing city ban on project labor agreements [Opinion]
Between now and early October when voting gets underway, The San Diego Union-Tribune Editorial Board is planning to publish dozens of candidate Q&As and nearly two dozen commentaries connected to a handful of San Diego city ballot measures and seven state propositions on the Nov. 8 election. Keep checking back as we fill in this voter guide.
We’re counting on state funding to fill most of that gap. But because of a conflict between state law and San Diego city law, CaliforniaIf we lose state money, it will kill projects our city needs and jobs that we can’t afford to lose. Measure D only lifts the ban. It doesn’t require the city to use PLAs. But based on my experience in both union and non-union construction, I hope the city will choose to use them, just as cities from Chula Vista to Eureka do.
