Daniel Jones received a contract that pays him like a top-10 NFL quarterback when he hasn't always performed like one.
weren’t offering him a raise when he was getting lit up behind Dave Gettleman’s fixed offensive line during his first few pro seasons. He believed he should be paid like one of the top 10 quarterbacks in the NFL, and now he will be.
Jones has not been close to a top-10 quarterback through the totality of his career. Every Giants fan can rattle off the things holding him back — that patchwork line, the banged-up receiving corps, the constant coaching changes, etc. That doesn’t change the reality, though, that Jones has often looked more like a placeholder than a franchise quarterback.now, and next season, he will have to play like it or the fan base is likely to turn on him in a hurry. No excuses.
Jalen Hurts looks the part of a top-10 quarterback in this league, and now Schoen will have to give Jones enough weapons to compete with him. It helps that Barkley is back on the franchise tag , but Schoen can’t let a 31-point explosion against a bad Vikings defense in the playoffs fool him about the work that still needs to be done with this offense.
