The NRL will be given millions by the government to cover additional costs associated with the mooted Port Moresby team, including flights, accommodation and logistics, minimising the code’s financial risk in taking on a PNG-based outfit. The league is expecting an increase in broadcast and commercial revenues due to the additional game per round an 18th club would deliver.V’landys said on Friday: “It’s not just all about the growth of the game, there’s also going to be benefit to the members, and that’s important.”
