New South Wales One Nation leader Mark Latham said ARL executives should not allow “players run the game” after the game’s board decided not to play the national anthem at this weekend’s All Star game.

“The NRL executives should decide who takes the field and they should decide the necessity for the anthem being played and at these events the vast majority of spectators sing the Australian national anthem,” Mr Latham told Sky News. “Do you take Ryan James to be an expert? He couldn’t even get the words of the Welcome to Country out, to his huge embarrassment on grand final night.”
