St George Dragons legend John Raper will have a state funeral at the SCG with Premier Dominic Perrottet saying it will be a 'worthy tribute' to the rugby league Immortal.

A state funeral will be held at the Sydney Cricket Ground at 10:30am on Monday, February 28 to recognise his contribution to rugby league.

Picture: News Corp Raper was a lifetime member and won eight consecutive grand finals at the SCG with the St George Dragons.

Raper was born in Camperdown in Sydney’s inner west and grew up in a working class family with eight brothers, playing his junior rugby league for the Camperdown Dragons. Raper’s list of achievements include a Clive Churchill Medal in 1966, he was named an Immortal in 1981 and in 1985 was inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame.
