Hughes is regarded as one of the most improved players in the NRL after leading Melbourne to a premiership in 2020. It’s the first time Hughes has finished in the top five of voting.

Grant finished with 43 per cent of votes, well ahead of Australian hooker Damien Cook with just 12 per cent.
