The NRL has rejected claims there is confusion around high tackles, adamant that the error not to sin-bin Stephen Crichton in round 25 is largely an isolated one.
Stephen Crichton was not sent to the sin-bin but is set to serve a one-match ban for a high tackle against the Warriors. The NRL said there was no confusion about what constituted a high tackle after a season-high 30 penalties were blown in round 25.
Cronulla centre Jesse Ramien is also facing a one-match ban out of the Sharks' win over St George Illawarra, after he too was sin-binned on Sunday. Of all penalties, it was Crichton's high shot that left Roger Tuivasa-Sheck concussed that drew the most controversy. And of the 23 players banned for high tackles this season, 18 were sin-binned or sent off for the tackle."We need to be getting much closer to a perfect score here.
"They are our most experienced officials, and they are in the mindset of looking at an incident and making a decision. That's an advantage."
