New South Wales Ambulance Service is being given a $1.7 billion dollar much-needed lifeline as part of the upcoming state budget, with some of the money to be set aside to employ almost 2000 extra paramedics.

Sydney’s over-stretched paramedics have been reached breaking points during the two-year coronavirus pandemic and into 2022, with the ambulance service hitting its highest crisis level multiple times. NSW Health Services Union secretary Gerard Hayes said the much-needed funding boost will ensure NSW is well placed for the challenges ahead, the ABC reports.
