The NSW Rural Fire Service will allow restricted access for non-residents to leave from Batemans Bay north with conditions easing slightly on Wednesday, but authorities warn fire conditions will significantly worsen on Saturday. NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian has urged tourists to take advantage of the safer conditions and leave the area.

"We are grateful for milder weather conditions over the next few days and where roads can be accessed, we will be encouraging tourists especially to move out of those areas while it’s safe to do so, because we are concerned what the weather might bring us on Saturday," she said. Saturday's fire conditions are expected to be worse than Tuesday's, with the extreme conditions covering a vast swathe of NSW including the areas already devastated by fire.
