The devastating and lingering impact of the NSW bushfire crisis will be marked with a public state memorial
at Sydney Olympic Park.
The NSW government says the memorial, beginning at 11.30am on Sunday, is a chance to"recognise the lives lost, sacrifices made and to show support for the families impacted by the fires".Thousands of homes have been damaged or destroyed and 25 people have died in the NSW bushfires since October. Premier Gladys Berejiklian, NSW Rural Fire Service commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons and Prime Minister Scott Morrison will speak at the event, and Delta Goodream will perform.
Tributes will be paid to the three American airmen who died in a plane crash near Cooma, as well as the three RFS volunteers who died fighting fires.Students are planting fire-resistant native grasses to help the next generations understanding of bushfires
