NSW health officials have suggested that people aged between 18 and 30 may be worsening the epidemic, as the state's records 239 local cases. Full story:

Health officials have slapped down those walking in Queensland's southeast without a mask.Queensland chief health officer Dr Jeanette Young said the rules are clear and that the mask mandate would now be introduced to teenagers.

"Strenuous exercise is where you are huffing and puffing and genuinely if you are to have a mask on, it could harm your health. Walking around for the vast majority of people is not strenuous exercise. If you are in your 90s and you are struggling, then that would probably be strenuous exercise but for most people, my age, it is not strenuous exercise," she said.

"I genuinely think that masks have made a big effort. I am worried that this is spreading in schools because of them not using masks so we have introduced, when schools are back on Monday and Tuesday for that very small number of children, children who are children of essential workers or vulnerable children.

"All children in secondary school from years seven onwards, no matter their age, there might be 11-year-olds there for instance, that they must wear masks and all teachers for primary school and for high school, unless they are teaching children who are deaf or teachers and staff must wear masks."
