One of three large fires burning in the Blue Mountains has been put out after seven gruelling weeks.

It's estimated up to 80 per cent of the world heritage listed site has been damaged.

The Gross Valley fire burnt through around 20,000 hectares of land in the Blue Mountains and was officially declared extinguished yesterday afternoon.
