Local doctor Cam Hollows says he's now spent 10 days travelling to isolated towns where there are no other medics around. 9News
"There's a 50-bed nursing home in Coraki - I've been the only doctor able to get there," Dr Hollows said.
He was tasked with covering the hospital with other staff members, until the usual doctor was able to get back from floodwaters for two to three nights. Dr Hollows said the following day he then got a chopper ride to Coraki, which he'd heard didn't have a doctor."At some point in the last 10 days some excellent nursing staff and other members of the public with first aid training … saved a man's life with my defibrillator," the doctor recalled.
"I helped package him up and put him in the chopper, but I didn't save his life, that was nursing staff and local volunteers."
