NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet on Saturday said a $100 million funding commitment 'will go a long way to achieving the point where women and young girls feel safe wherever they are'.
The funding, included in this year's state budget, comprises $30 million for an"anti-street harassment initiative" and $69.6 million to support victim-survivors of domestic and family violence.
"From my perspective today and the investments we're making will go a long way to achieving the point where women and young girls feel safe wherever they are - safe when they're at home, safe when they leave home, and importantly that they can get home safely as well." The"anti-street harassment initiative" is being first launched at Parramatta Park and the Rocks, with more locations to follow throughout the campaign which the state government says is being co-designed with women and girls.
The $69.6 million funding component includes $43.6 million to expand the Safer Pathway program, Minister for Women's Safety and the Prevention of Domestic and Sexual Violence Natalie Ward said.
