Special Minister of State John Graham said $400,000 would be given to every electorate in NSW under a scheme to fund local community projects.

The NSW government has fended off accusations of pork barrelling, saying a taxpayer-funded scheme to fund local community projects was the opposite of past programs that showered money on Coalition electorates.

Special Minister of State John Graham said the Local Small Commitments Allocation program was not pork barrelling.Special Minister of State John Graham said on Saturday, projects under the program were identified by local communities and supported by Labor candidates who had to nominate them as election commitments prior to the March 2023 election.

Graham’s comments came after criticisms the program established by the Minns government to distribute $37.2 million across the state was pork barrelling.Labor’s program was a slush fund, with “money to be spent for, and only for, political purposes”.
