NSW government yet to decide on new Penrith stadium site, says sports minister | AlexSmithSMH & LucyCormack

NSW Sports Minister Alister Henskens says the government is undecided on a site for the new $300 million western Sydney stadium, despite an acquisition notice being served on the Penrith Paceway.

Former deputy Liberal leader, sports minister and Penrith MP Stuart Ayres had been a fierce advocate of the stadium upgrade for Penrith Panthers, insisting that it was critical for western Sydney.over his role in the John Barilaro trade scandal, told budget estimates that the government did not “have a location yet” for the new stadium.

Tash Greentree, chief executive of the Penrith Paceway, which includes the showground site, said the proposed acquisition of the site came as a shock. Greentree said there had been no discussion about alternative sites for the 177-year-old showground site in the event of an acquisition. “Absolutely no idea what our future holds at present,” she said.
