'Sick of yelling at the government': Greens MP quits | AlexSmithSMH

The NSW Greens will lose an MP in the upper house after Justin Field revealed he would quit the party immediately and spend the next four years as an independent on the crossbench.

Mr Field said he feared last month's election would put the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party and One Nation "in the box seat" to "control the agenda in this state"."I’ve got a lot of criticism of the Coalition government, particularly their poor environmental"But an ideological opposition to working with any one side of politics is pointless when it manifestly fails to deliver outcomes.

Mr Field, who entered NSW Parliament in August 2016 to fill a vacancy created after Greens MP John Kaye died, said some would suggest he should quit altogether. "I especially look forward to continuing to work with the community, activists and campaigners across the state to build a better NSW.""The rise of progressive independents is in part driven by the evidence that political parties in Australia seem incapable of working together to deliver better outcomes for the community and respond to the growing ecological crisis," Mr Field said.
