Queensland authorities expect the BA.2 variant of omicron to become the dominant COVID-19 strain in Australia within weeks.
“I think it will be far away the dominant strain of the virus in Australia within weeks,” he told reporters.“To put that in some context, in January when we saw the peak omicron wave, we had a doubling of cases every two to three days,” Gerrard said.
