Emergency services have been kept busy by heavy rain drenching parts of NSW, with further heavy rainfall possible over the weekend.

"We've had numerous requests for assistance and a lot have been from the Sydney and Blue Mountains area. These jobs range from Impact on homes and businesses, fallen trees across major roads and life-saving flood rescues," she said.

"Generally what the satellite and radar imagery is telling us is that this rain is starting to become more widespread and the more intense showers within it are starting to become more frequent," she said. The last 24 hours have brought more than 100mm of rain to multiple parts of the state including areas around the Central Coast and Northern Beaches.Coffs Harbour has been drenched overnight, causing flooding.Sydney city and surrounding areas also received a drenching with the city's total now over 150mm in the last two days.
