New modelling suggests the Omicron wave in New South Wales will peak during the third to last week of January, according to NSW Health Deputy Secretary Susan Pearce.

Ms Pearce said the modelling of the impacts on the health system considers factors including the health of the New South Wales population and the state’s vaccination rates.

“So we reiterate, we have got some challenging weeks ahead of us but we have been planning for this pandemic and continuing to reinvent ourselves for two years now,” she said during a media conference on Wednesday.
