NSW Premier Chris Minns has strongly denied reports suggesting a parliamentary inquiry might refer him to the state’s corruption watchdog, the Independent Commission Against Corruption ( ICAC ). Minns claims these reports are politically motivated and unsubstantiated rumors spread by Liberal and crossbench MPs.
The controversy arose from an unsolicited proposal by the Australian Turf Club (ATC) to sell the Rosehill Racecourse land to developers for the construction of 25,000 homes in western Sydney. The proposal requires approval from the club's 15,000 members. Minns also dismissed allegations of corruption tied to his meeting with ATC’s government relations manager Steve McMahon, who initially proposed the housing development. Minns asserts that the meeting was merely a 'meet and greet' and that any suggestion of corruption is outrageous
